How it works

Your responsibilities
are limited.

The corporation has a lot of expectations.
The game asks very little of you.

01

Meet your new employee.

Choose a name and a look. Your rat arrives with a desk, a job title and no meaningful explanation of what the company makes.

Individuality, within guidelines.
02

Assign something important.

Prepare a strategy deck. Attend an alignment meeting. Process routine requests. Tasks arrive automatically. Set priorities and your rat takes it from there.

The evidence is forthcoming.
03

Get on with your day.

Let the game run beside your other windows. Return for a new certificate, a desk accessory or a higher level of the same responsibilities.

No collection button required.

Illustrative rest summary

Out of office

Take a break.
The rat gets it.

Your rat earns Cheddar while the game can keep running. Closing it stops work and builds a capped rest reserve for a small bonus when you return.

Browsers can also pause background tabs. When that happens, work stops and rest builds instead. There is no offline Cheddar payout.

No streaks to protect. No guilt to return to.

A few useful answers

A little clarification.

The important details, with the jargon removed.

Can I play yet?

Yes. The browser prototype is playable now. Begin employment and let your rat work through an automatically filled task list. Your career saves automatically in this browser, with backup export in Settings. Accounts and social features are not part of this prototype.

Is this a desktop app or a browser game?

The playable prototype runs in desktop browsers, with a compact layout that can sit beside another window. A downloadable desktop app may follow after testing. Mobile apps are not part of this pilot.

Does my rat earn Cheddar while I’m away?

Your rat earns while the game can keep running. Closing the game or a browser suspending the tab stops Cheddar production. That time builds a capped rest reserve for a small bonus during your next working session. There is no offline Cheddar payout.

How much attention does it need?

Let your rat work through its task list, or reorder upcoming priorities. Occasional adjustments give a small bonus, but are optional. There are no repeated clicks, daily claims, streaks or penalties for taking a break. An empty rest reserve never stops ordinary work.

Does it track my real work?

No. Cheddar measures the game simulation only. RatRaceIdle does not monitor your typing, applications, meetings, documents or real productivity, and is not connected to your employer. Personal email addresses are welcome.

Do I need colleagues to play?

No. Your career works on its own. Private departments and shared cosmetic rewards are planned for the colleague pilot. Joining and inviting are optional; invitations do not earn referral Cheddar or give anyone a share of your progress.

Will the pilot have purchases?

The pilot is planned without purchases or ads. Cosmetic purchases and an optional narrative retirement package are possibilities for a later release. Neither would sell performance advantages. Pausing and leaving the game are always free.
